What is Reach Out and Read?

Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a national non-profit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud at well-child exams across the nation.

Our Mission

The mission of Reach Out and Read is to make literacy promotion a primary part of early childhood healthcare so that children grow up with books and a love of reading.

Making an Impact in Colorado

The over 100 Colorado clinics participating in Reach Out and Read distribute over 128,000 books to 78,000 children annually. Over 700 healthcare providers have been trained in the Reach Out and Read model and there are over 50 volunteers readers in waiting rooms across the state.
