Research has shown that when a parent reads to his or her child every day during the critical early years of brain growth, the child develops the language and literacy skills necessary for success in school.

Reach Out and Read Colorado and Raising a Reader along with other community organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley promote early childhood literacy by celebrating Read With Me Week. Parents from Parachute to Basalt can track their daily read-aloud sessions with their children ages 6 months to 5 years, and submit their names for prize drawings!
